About Avilus.
In 2021, Avilus began developing the rescue drone Grille. Since then, our vision has expanded: we are now a manufacturer and certified operator of a new class of dual-use drones with maximum take-off weights between 500 and 1000 kg – closing the gap between lightweight UAVs and fully certified or manned aviation systems. Where small drones fall short on payload and range, and certified platforms are too complex or costly, our aircraft deliver long endurance, high utility, and rapid deployability – at a fraction of the operational burden. With modular platforms, military-grade avionics, and compliance with next-generation regulatory frameworks such as the EASA Specific Category, our systems are ready for missions in logistics, surveillance, and rescue support.
From Code to Carbon.
The Design Department transforms operational needs into functioning systems. We cover the full development spectrum from system architecture over structural design to avionics, simulation, and testing. Whether we're coding a flight control algorithm, building a prototype, or verifying airworthiness requirements, our interdisciplinary teams ensure that each platform is not just built, but built right. Rooted in aerospace engineering and guided by the V-Model, we turn ideas into integrated air systems.
Translates the concept of operations into aircraft requirements, system architectures down to item-level requirements.
Ensures compliance with EASA and military requirements across all development stages.
Uses high-fidelity flight physical simulation models to predict system behavior and performance both in MIL and HIL.
Develops lightweight airframe concepts with modularity and manufacturability in mind.
Designs and tests electric and conventional propulsion concepts, focusing on efficiency, maintainability, and redundancy.
Engineers low-volt architectures, embedded computing on safety-critical electronics, communication interfaces and low-level code.
Develops flight control laws, system and mission automation, voting and monitoring as well as redundancy schemes for safe operation.
Designs operator interfaces on battle management system level.
Builds test environments, test cards and executes tests for both software and hardware testing.
Hands-on support for first builds from 3D-printing to structural assembly and system integration.
Certified to Fly. Trusted for Service.
The Flight Department ensures our aircraft are flown safely and effectively whether in support of system development or during live operations for our customers. As a Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) holder pursuant to regulation (EU) 2019/947, Part C, Avilus manages the full spectrum of flight activities, from remote crew training and flightworthiness to operational compliance, safety, and privilege management.
Plans, executes, and documents all flight activities from engineering test flights to operational service missions.
Provides initial and recurrent training for remote pilots and mission specialists tailored to aircraft and mission profiles.
Maintains the operational airworthiness of each aircraft across its lifecycle including documentation, planning, inspections, and release to service. Acts as a drone-scale equivalent to CAMO and Part-145 in manned aviation.
Operates Compliance Management System (CMS) and ensures adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements under EU Regulation 2019/947 and national frameworks.
Operates the Safety Management System (SMS) to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks across all mission phases.
Protects infrastructure, flight operations, and mission data both physically and digitally against internal and external threats.
Manages and expands operational privileges under the Light UAS Operator Certificate(LUC), including self-authorization of new flight areas.
Introduces, evaluates, and documents changes to operations or systems in compliance with LUC-manual and applicable aviation standards.
