Description:
You want to become part of a startup that unites med-tech, defense, and aerospace? Then read the following: Many years of practical experience and clinical research in emergency medicine have proved that mortality and time to operation are heavily correlated. The longer the therapy-free interval, the lower the survival probability of the patient, especially for penetrating traumas such as gunshot wounds. AVILUS introduces a flight system which complements the standard assets of the evacuation chain. Consisting of an uncrewed aerial vehicle (MEDEVAC), a truck-integrated control room (PECC), a trailer for logistics and service (TROL), as well as a digital backbone (MEDC4I).
As Prototyping Engineer, you take on a key role in the technical realization of our vision – ensuring that concepts become functional prototypes. This role requires not only technical understanding and craftsmanship but also the ability to respond pragmatically and flexibly to new challenges. Adaptability and creative problem-solving are often essential.
Tasks:
- Coordination and execution of prototype builds for airborne vehicles and ground components in accordance with engineering requirements
- Management of the workshop infrastructure: organization, safety, tool selection, procurement, and continuous improvement
- Technical interface to the structures team: consulting on the development of metal, plastic, and composite components
- CAD-based development and design of components and assemblies, considering functional performance, manufacturing constraints, and material properties
- Hands-on implementation of mechanical and electromechanical integration work
- Occasional on-site missions integration work on the aircraft
Qualification:
- Degree: Completed or ongoing studies (Bachelor or Master) in the domain of mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or comparable programs.
- Proven 3 years of experience in practical prototyping and strong craftsmanship skills
- Confident use of workshop and specialized tools, along with experience in their application-specific selection and procurement
- Familiarity with composite materials, 3D printing, and conventional workshop equipment
- Initial leadership experience or strong aptitude for technical guidance
- Structured, solution-oriented working style and a high level of personal responsibility
- Proficient in CAD software (ideally Siemens NX), standard office tools, and optionally GitLab
- Required for employment: Security clearance (Ü2-Sabotageschutz) approval (note: relationships in countries according to § 13 para. 1 no. 17 SÜG may result in a negative assessment)
