Do you want to work on a New Class of Drones? Our product universe spans three different platforms with maximum take-off weights of up to 1000 kg characteristic dimension of 8 m: the hexacopter Grille for medical evacuation, the multi-role rotorcraft Wespe for logistics and support operations, as well as the fixed-wing drone Bussard for surveillance and intelligence missions. All systems are powered by RasCore, our highly redundant, military-grade avionics system for safe operations within EASA’s Specific Category. Three aircraft, one mission: to bridge the gap between small UAVs and traditional manned systems.
We are looking for a dedicated Flight Authorization Specialist to strengthen our Change Team. In this role, you will work closely with the Change Manager and play a key role in handling national and international flight authorizations to ensure the successful execution of our flight test operations.
Tasks
- Creation and maintenance of nominal and generic flight areas within the German airspace (including documentation and the use of relevant tools such as dipul, Polarion, etc.)
- Preparation, submission, and processing of flight authorization requests with national and international authorities (e.g., LBA, DFS, BAF)
- Application of relevant regulations(e.g., EASA SORA) and preparation of required documentation and evidence
- Coordination with authorities, partners, and stakeholders in Germany and abroad
- Support in change management processes (review of change requests, documentation in GitLab, coordination with internal teams)
- Close collaboration with internal stakeholders (Flight Operations, Privilege Manager, Safety Manager) and external partners
Qualifications
- University degree, preferably in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Law (First State Exam, LL.B. with focus on aviation), Political Science, or a comparable field
- Preferably several years of relevant professional experience in the areas of flight authorizations, ICAO, EU and EASA regulations, drone operations, flight operations, or governmental affairs
- Knowledge of ICAO, EU, and EASA regulations, particularly SORA. Possession of recognized training certificates(e.g., from EASA Training Organizations or other relevant UAS/drone licenses)would be a bonus.
- Good analytical, structured, and independent working style
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and coordination skills, also in an international context
- Preferably experience with tools such as GitLab, Polarion and dipul map tool
- Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written
- Required for employment: Security clearance (Ü2-Sabotageschutz) approval (note: relationships in countries according to § 13 para. 1 no. 17 SÜG may result in a negative assessment)
