Description
Do you want to work on a New Class of Drones? Our product universe spans three different platforms with maximum take-off weights of up to 1000 kg and characteristic dimensions of 8 m: The hexacopter Grille for medical evacuation, the multi-role rotorcraft Wespe for logistics and support operations, as well as the fixed-wing drone Bussard for surveillance and intelligence missions. All systems are powered by RasCore, our highly redundant, military-grade avionics system for safe operations within EASA’s Specific Category. Three aircraft, one mission: to bridge the gap between small UAVs and traditional manned systems.
Your Mission
As an Industrial Designer, you will take ownership of the design and development of our aircraft/UAV platforms - from early concepts to production-ready surfaces. You’ll also play a key role in supporting marketing with high-quality renders and visuals, and you’ll collaborate closely with our Structures/Mechanical team to solve design challenges with elegant, feasible solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the industrial design of AVILUS aircraft/UAVs: form, surfaces, CMF, and product identity
- Translate requirements into strong concepts, iterate quickly, and drive designs toward implementation
- Create and maintain CAD/3D models suitable for engineering handover (surfaces, assemblies, design intent)
- Produce high-end renderings and visual assets (product shots, exploded views, key visuals) to support marketing and sales
- Collaborate with Structures/Engineering to resolve integration challenges (interfaces, packaging, cooling, access, fasteners, manufacturability)
- Support prototype builds and reviews: DFM/DFA, tolerances, materials, and finish specifications
- Help define and evolve AVILUS’ design language across platforms and accessories
What You Bring
- Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Transportation Design (or similar)
- Strong portfolio showing aesthetic judgment and engineering awareness (ideally aerospace/UAV, automotive, robotics, or high-tech products)
- Proficiency in 3D/CAD and surfacing (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, CATIA, Fusion 360 or similar)
- Excellent visualization skills (e.g., KeyShot, Blender, Cinema4D, Unreal or similar)
- Confidence collaborating with engineers; able to discuss structures, materials, and manufacturing constraints
- Practical mindset: you enjoy solving real constraints, not just creating concepts
- Strong communication in English (German is a plus)
Nice to Have
- Experience with composites, lightweight structures, or aerospace manufacturing
- Understanding of aerodynamic constraints and packaging in aerial vehicles
- Experience creating brand-consistent product visuals and asset pipelines for marketing
Benefits
- Team with high spirit and pace
- Flexible working time model
- Sports membership
Application Documents
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of motivation
- Certificates / reports / references
- Portfolio
