Release of a New Class of Drones at „Tag der Bundeswehr“ in Diez

June 30, 2025

Diez, 28 June 2025 –We were honored to present our New Class of Drones to over 12,000 visitors at„Tag der Bundeswehr“ in Diez, releasing the third generation of Grille, the first generation of Wespe and Bussard, and our new Ground Control Segment. Our new portfolio in brief:

Bussard – Long Range. Strategic Intelligence.

Built for strategic reach, Bussard delivers persistent surveillance and precision effects, providing wide-area reconnaissance with its high-performance radar and enabling standoff target designation when required. With a maximum takeoff weight of 800kg, a 143 kg payload capacity, and a 2,500 km range, Bussard shares the same military-grade avionics core as Grille, ensuring redundancy and resilience against electronic warfare. Equipped with the Hensoldt Argos electro-optical system and Hensoldt PrecISR radar, it enables day-night, all-weather ISR operations.

Wespe – Multi-Role. Operational Flexibility.

Designed as a force multiplier, Wespe enables mid-range transport of diverse tactical payloads, including electro-optical systems for target designation, swappable cabins for naval medical evacuation, or rapid air-drop support. Powered by a piston engine, Wespe has a maximum takeoff weight of 650 kg, a 200 kg payload capacity, and a300 km operational range. As part of our New Class of Drones, it features RasCore avionics for resilience against electronic warfare.

Grille – Fast Response. Tactical Simplicity.

Grille is designed for rapid sustainment operations, supporting medical evacuation and logistics while complementing existing assets. Now in our third generation, new features include plug & fly battery connection, advanced landing gear for complex terrain, and a swappable medical cabin. Toolless component replacement enhances operational availability, while the integrated multi-parachute system ensures safe emergency recovery from low altitudes.

With our New Class of Drones, we are defining a new category of unmanned aviation that bridges the gap between small UAVs and traditional manned aircraft. Our systems are specifically designed for application domains where type-certified drones or manned aviation are too cost- or risk-intensive, delivering the payload capacity and endurance needed for medical evacuation, logistics, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and support missions. By spanning this technological gap, we enable modern defence forces to enhance operational effectiveness across a broad spectrum of mission profiles.
